euro cup 2012 : Italy beats Germany 2-1 to reach Euro 2012 final, watch full video of game,

Mario Balotelli finally showed some quality finishing, scoring twice Thursday to give Italy a 2—1 win over Germany and an unexpected spot in the European Championship final.

Extending its winless streak against Italy in major tournaments to eight matches, Germany had no answer for Balotelli nor Antonio Cassano’s creativity.

In the 20th minute, Balotelli had no trouble getting past Holger Badstuber to head in a pinpoint cross from Cassano. Then in the 36th, the 21—year—old striker received the ball behind the defense and blasted a long shot into the top right corner.

While he did score against Ireland, Balotelli was criticized for wasting numerous chances against Spain, Croatia and England.

Germany failed to trouble Italy for much of the match, but Mesut Oezil scored a consolation penalty in injury time after Federico Balzaretti was whistled for a handball.

Italy will face defending champion Spain in Sunday’s final in Kiev, Ukraine a rematch of their 1—1 draw that opened Group C.

While Italy has won four World Cups, it’s only European Championship title came in 1968. Like when they won the 1982 and 2006 World Cups, the Azzurri have managed to maintain their focus despite a match—fixing and betting scandal at home.

On a pleasant evening at the National Stadium Warsaw, Cassano set up the opening goal by befuddling Germany defenders Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng to lift the ball in Balotelli’s direction.

The second goal began with a long vertical pass from Riccardo Montolivo, whose mother is German.

Balotelli collected the pass with his back to the goal, controlled the ball with his chest and then sprinted forward and unleashed a blazing shot from the edge of the area as Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer again stood immobile.

Balotelli took off his jersey after his second goal, which drew an automatic yellow card, although he will not miss the final.

Even before scoring, Italy controlled the pace of the match, although Germany did have several chances from Hummels, Toni Kroos and Oezil.

In the 35th, Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon preserved the Azzurri lead by swatting away a long shot from Sami Khedira and Balotelli doubled the lead a minute later.

To start the second half, Germany coach Joachim Loew brought on Miroslav Klose for Mario Gomez at center forward and replaced Lukas Podolski with Marco Reus on the wing.

With Germany appearing slightly more organized, captain Philipp Lahm had a great look at the goal in the 49th but shot way over the bar.

Buffon made another impressive save in the 62nd, leaping to push a free kick from Reus off the bar.

While Italy largely sat back and protected its lead in the second half, the Azzurri did produce some dangerous counterattacks.

Claudio Marchisio shot just wide in the 67th and 75th and substitute Antonio Di Natale missed another chance in the 82nd.

Di Natale came on in the 70th after Balotelli went down with a cramp to his left leg.

White-clad German fans greatly outnumbered Italian supporters, unveiling a huge banner before kickoff that featured a giant “G” for Germany. However, most of the stadium was filled with Polish fans who supported Italy.

Android in new : 4.1 Jelly Bean, latest features of Jelly Bean

It's not the full revamp that Ice Cream Sandwich was, but Android 4.1 Jelly Bean nonetheless adds a collection of new and useful features for Android enthusiasts. Using a Jelly Bean-equipped Samsung Galaxy Nexus that Google issued after the first-day keynote presentation of Google I/O, I was able to explore some of the enhancements and get a taste of what Jelly Bean will bring.

The user interface is largely the same as in Ice Cream Sandwich, but now a widget will resize automatically when you drop it onto a crowded home page. Then, by moving the blue points, you can make it smaller or change its shape. After a long press on a widget or icon you can remove it from the home screen by swiping it up to the X.

Google fires a shot at Apple's Siri with a voice search feature. After selecting the icon in the main menu you'll launch directly into the app's uncluttered interface. From there, tap the microphone icon to get started. When the phone is "listening", the microphone will turn red and a series of circles will radiate out from the icon. After you ask your question, you'll see a series of squares in the middle of the screen.

For many questions, such as when I asked for the weather in New York, the phone will speak your answer. In this case, for instance, it told me the temperature (here in Celsius) and advised me that a forecast for the next few days was available. During my initial tests, Google's Voice Search feature was faster than Siri and the voice wasn't so robotic. We'll have a head-to-head comparison between the two services soon.

For some questions, though, the feature won't always read your answer. When I asked for the prime minister of Australia, for example, the voice told me it was Julia Gillard. But when I asked for the nation's capital, the Galaxy Nexus just gave me the Web search results. We'll be investigating the parameters for getting a spoken result.

Likewise, I just got a series of links when I asked for the speed of a 747. And just like Siri, the Voice Search feature won't always interpret your words correctly.

Surjeet crosses over to India ,release from Pakistan jail

Freed after spending 31 years in a Pakistani jail on charges of being a spy, Surjeet Singh on Thursday crossed over the Wagah border to an emotional welcome by family and friends.

The 69-year-old looked cheerful as he got down from a prison van in Lahore escorted by a Pakistani security personnel who latched on to an iron chain hooked to his belt.

Sporting a flowing white beard, Mr. Surjeet Singh told reporters after stepping on Indian soil that, “After 30 years, I am meeting my children. I am very happy“.

Mr. Surjeet Singh said that he wished to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple before leaving for his native Phidde village in Ferozpur district.

As soon he crossed the border, Mr. Surjeet Singh hugged his family members including wife Harbans Kaur, son Kulwinder Singh and grandchildren besides villagers from his native village Phidde who garlanded him, distributed sweets and burst into celebrations amid beating of drums.

Mr. Surjeet Singh served a life term following his arrest on charges of spying in the 1980s in Pakistan.

He was given the death sentence under the Pakistan Army Act in 1985. The death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment in 1989 by then President Ghulam Ishaq Khan.

Asked about another Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh who is lodged in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, Mr. Surjeet Singh said certain groups in Pakistan opposed his release.

“I am sure now I will get Sarbjit Singh released from Pakistan jail, don’t know how I will do it but certainly I will meet the authorities concerned in India for Sarbjit Singh,” he said.

“He is not facing any problems there.

He is fine. I used to see him on a weekly basis in the prison,” Mr. Surjeet Singh said, hoping for his early release.

Mr. Surjeet Singh attributed the confusion on the release of Mr. Sarabjit Singh to a spelling mistake.

“All this happened due to spelling mistakes as in Urdu language the spelling of Surjeet and Sarabjit are almost similar,” he claimed.

Earlier, Pakistani security personnel had escorted Mr. Surjeet Singh to the Wagah land border crossing, where he was handed over to Indian authorities.

His release from prison came after reports emerged on Tuesday that Pakistan was to free Mr. Sarabjit Singh.

But later, Pakistan clarified that authorities had actually ordered the release of Mr. Surjeet Singh and not Mr. Sarabjit Singh.

After he emerged from the jail, Mr. Surjeet Singh said he was looking forward to meeting his family.

“During my imprisonment I often remembered my family and children.

Today I am very happy. I will go to the Golden Temple to pray and hug my children,” he told reporters.

SBI NEW policies :: SBI cuts interest rate for exporters by 0.5%,news for investor es,business

Mumbai: Country's largest lender SBI has cut interest rate on loans to exporters by 0.5 percent within days of the Reserve Bank increasing the export refinancing limits of banks.

"SBI has cut interest rates for exporters by 50 basis points effective last Saturday (June 23, 2012). The decision was taken at asset liability committee (Alco) meeting last Saturday," SBI Chairman Pratip Chaudhuri said.

Export credit is linked to the bank's base rate and varies from 2.5 percent to 6 percent above that depending on various factors including credit rating of the exporter. SBI base rate is 10 percent.

While leaving the key interest rates and cash reserve requirements of banks unchanged at its mid-quarter review last week, RBI had enhanced liquidity to exporters by increasing the refinancing limits of the outstanding rupee export credit for banks - called export credit refinance (ECR) - to 50 percent from 15 percent.

The move, which RBI claimed was a 0.50 percent indirect Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) cut, will release Rs 30,000 crore into the system, thereby increasing the overall liquidity conditions.

Banks on an average have been borrowing nearly Rs 1 lakh crore from RBI daily due to tight money supply conditions.

The interest rate charged on the ECR facility is equivalent to the repo rate, which is currently 8 percent.

SBI has recently announced up to 3.5 percent cut in lending rates to top-rated corporates, SMEs and farm loan borrowers but not for individuals, effective June 1.
